|New contracts in China reinforce Alstom’s position as the country’s well established supplier of nuclear equipment|
Alstom, partnering with Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry, has won a contract to supply emergency diesel generators (EDGs) for the Chinese Tianwan nuclear power plant, and at the same time secured contracts to supply gas stripping and evaporation unit equipments to the Ningde, Fangchenggang, Yangjiang, Fuqing and Tianwan nuclear power plants. The contracts reinforce Alstom’s position as a key equipment supplier of nuclear equipment to China.
Worth approximately €40 million in total, the contracts were signed with CNPE, the EPC contracting arm of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and with CNPEC, the EPC contracting arm of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC), respectively.
Under the terms of the agreements, Alstom will supply five EDGs to Tianwan (for the plants’ units 5 and 6) in Jiangsu, and will provide five nuclear plants (Ningde’s units 3 and 4, Fangchenggang’s units 1 and 2, Yangjiang’s units 3 and 4, Fuqing’s units 3 and 4 as well as Tianwan’s units 5 and 6) with Liquid Purification Equipments (LPE) by evaporation-stripping. All these equipments will be used on CPR 1000 reactors, the pressurized reactors modified and improved by Chinese technology.
“These latest contracts with CNNC and CGNPC demonstrate our clients’ confidence in Alstom’s nuclear products and technology, further consolidating our position as a well established supplier of essential equipment to Chinese nuclear power plants. We are proud to further contribute to helping China meet its nuclear objectives ,” says Richard Yeung, Head of Alstom Power China.
